Child Passenger Safety Program
Child Passenger Safety Technicians train parents and caregivers to select, install, and adjust car seats and booster seats. Also, to help parents and caregivers determine when a child is the right size to move from a child restraint to an adult safety belt.
The Sullivan County Health Department is able to support obtaining car seats for individuals who meet the program’s qualifications. We are also able to install and adjust car seats and booster seats for parents that already have their child safety restraint.
Safe Sleep Program
The Sullivan County Health Department has partnered with the ISDH and DCS to provide safe sleep education and Infant Survival Kits for parents and caregivers in Indiana who do not have a safe place for their infants to sleep. Our educational messages focus on three key risk reduction recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics and National Institutes of Health which states that infants sleep safest:
Alone
On their backs
In a separate, safe sleep environment
You can access free resources and education about safe sleep, as well receive assistance getting a crib at our office.
